Chef Gianfranco Chiarini is an internationally acclaimed chef, food engineer, restaurateur, author, and television personality of Italian-American origins, raised in the United States of America. With a career spanning more than 40 years, he has built an international reputation across fine dining, luxury hospitality, culinary research and development, food technology, restaurant consultancy, and culinary education, contributing to projects in more than 100 countries worldwide.
His formal culinary education began at the Instituto de Alta Gastronomía in Caracas, Venezuela, before continuing in the United States at the Pittsburgh Culinary Institute. He subsequently completed his studies in France at the prestigious Le Cordon Bleu Paris, where he earned the Le Grand Diplôme Culinaire. During this period, he refined his craft under Michelin-starred chefs, including Alain Dutournier at Carré des Feuillants in Paris and Heinz Beck at La Pergola in Rome, experiences that helped shape his classical foundations and international culinary philosophy.
Throughout his career, Chef Chiarini has served as Executive Chef, Corporate Chef, Research & Development Chef, culinary consultant, and hospitality advisor for Michelin-starred restaurants, luxury hotels, international food manufacturers, and hospitality groups throughout Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia, and the Americas. He has also participated in the development and opening of more than 200 restaurants and hospitality concepts across over 100 countries through Chiarini Culinary Consultants.
Together with his wife, Chef Anna Chiarini, he is the co-founder and owner of Dieci Boutique Restaurant in Devino, Bulgaria. Under their leadership, the restaurant has received numerous national and international distinctions, including:
